Snowy Owl

Snowy Owl is an expressive animal art poster that brings a quiet but unmistakable presence to the wall. The composition is dominated by a large white owl, painted with soft, visible brushstrokes and subtle layers of cream, pale blush, muted lavender, light green and cool blue. Against the deep, dark background, the pale bird becomes almost luminous. Its large blue eyes look directly towards the viewer, creating a calm and captivating focal point that immediately gives the artwork personality.

The colour palette in Snowy Owl is understated, but full of detail. The owl’s plumage is primarily white and warm cream, yet a closer look reveals delicate touches of soft pink, pale yellow, sage green, icy blue and lavender. Small golden and ochre marks are scattered through the feathers, adding warmth and giving the surface a painterly, layered quality. The bright yellow beak creates a clear point of contrast, while the cool blue eyes give the face a distinctive expression.

Behind the owl, a dark background in deep olive green, forest green, charcoal and almost black creates depth and drama. The contrast between the pale bird and the rich background is one of the defining features of the poster. It gives Snowy Owl a strong graphic quality while allowing the softer brushwork and gentle colours of the feathers to remain visible. The result feels both contemporary and timeless – an animal poster that works just as well in a calm Scandinavian interior as in a room with deeper colours and more character.

The loose, hand-painted expression keeps the owl from feeling too realistic or formal. Instead, the visible brushstrokes and softly uneven details give the bird warmth and individuality. Its gaze is direct, but not severe, and there is something peaceful and almost thoughtful about the expression. This makes Snowy Owl a beautiful choice for anyone who loves bird art, wildlife-inspired wall art or animal posters with an artistic and distinctive look.

In a living room, Snowy Owl can become a striking focal point above a sofa, sideboard or reading chair. The dark green background works beautifully with natural wood, oak, wool, linen and other earthy materials. In a bedroom, the soft white and cream tones create a calmer mood, while the deep background adds enough contrast to give the room depth. The poster also works well in a hallway, home office or creative space, and its gentle animal character makes it a lovely choice for a stylish children’s room without feeling overly childish.

For framing, solid oak is an especially beautiful choice. The warmth of the wood brings out the cream and golden details in the feathers and softens the dark background. A black frame creates a more graphic, gallery-inspired expression and blends naturally with the deepest tones in the artwork. A white frame gives more contrast around the edges and emphasises the pale owl, while dark oak creates a warm, sophisticated finish.

Snowy Owl is printed on heavy, matte quality paper, chosen to reproduce the soft brushwork, subtle colour variations and deep contrasts with a refined, non-glossy finish. The matte surface helps preserve the quiet, painterly quality of the artwork in different lighting conditions.

The poster is available in A4, 30x40, 40x50, 50x70, 70x100 and 100x140 cm. Choose a smaller size for a subtle animal art accent, or go large and let the owl’s expressive blue eyes and luminous white plumage become a confident focal point in the room. If you order a frame together with your poster, we frame it for you free of charge.

Our posters are printed on 250 gsm silk paper — a strong, wood-free quality paper with a beautiful semi-matte surface that enhances colours and details without glare. Silk paper is often used for art prints and photography because it delivers soft, natural and precise colour reproduction.

Most posters on the market are printed on 170 gsm paper, but we choose to go a step further. We use 250 gsm because we only want to send out something we would proudly hang in our own home. The extra thickness gives a more solid feel, richer colour depth and a quality that truly lasts.

The paper is Nordic Swan Ecolabelled and FSC-certified, and finished with genuine offset printing and water-based varnish — a combination usually found in far more expensive prints.
At HelloPoster, this means you get premium quality at a price that’s still accessible.

How to hang your poster – simple and stylish tips

Getting a poster to hang perfectly is all about the small details. Start by choosing the right height — as a general rule, the center of the poster should sit around 145–155 cm (57–61 inches) from the floor, placing it naturally at eye level. Pick a frame that complements both the artwork and the room, and take a moment to measure so everything hangs straight.

Consider the lighting too: natural light makes colours appear vibrant, but avoid direct sunlight to keep the print looking beautiful for years. If you're hanging multiple posters together, begin from the center and keep the spacing consistent for a clean, balanced look.

It's the little adjustments that make all the difference — creating a refined and well-composed result.

Hang your poster with no measuring stress

Use painter's tape for a quick and perfectly straight result:

1. Hold your frame against the wall where you want it.
2. Place a strip of painter's tape along the top edge of the frame.
3. Mark exactly where the nail or screw should go.
4. Remove the tape and stick it onto the wall — perfectly level.
5. Hammer the nail into the marked spot.
6. Remove the tape and hang your poster.

A simple method for a clean, perfectly aligned poster — every time.
