About Beautiful Ink Script
About Beautiful Ink Script
One word. Eight letters. Written with a brush loaded with black ink on a pale, almost-white ground, with the kind of physical commitment that makes a mark feel like a declaration. Beautiful Ink Script by Manasseh Johnson Sr. is as simple as art gets and as powerful as art gets: a single word, made visible in all its weight and intention.
The word Beautiful sweeps across the full width of the composition in large, gestural, hand-lettered script. The letterforms are energetic and alive — not calligraphic in the sense of controlled perfection, but calligraphic in the sense of the master brushstroke: each letter bears the evidence of the hand that made it, the speed and pressure of the gesture, the places where the ink pooled, dripped, splashed, or thinned. Drips extend downward from the letters like punctuation marks or exclamation points, and small ink spots around the composition give the work the quality of a performance captured mid-action. The slightly irregular letterforms — the t’s that lean, the u that opens wide, the l’s that stand with individual character — make the word feel not like a font but like a voice: specific, embodied, unmistakably human.
Manasseh Johnson Sr. works across a range of visual registers, from his complex geometric portraits to works like this one, where the gesture itself is the subject. Beautiful Ink Script belongs to a tradition of text-based art that runs from Cy Twombly through Jean-Michel Basquiat — artists for whom words on a surface are not signs pointing elsewhere but physical objects with their own weight and presence. The word “beautiful” is one of the most charged words in the language, and writing it this way — large, physical, urgent, imperfect — transforms it from a description into an assertion. Not beautiful like a magazine. Beautiful like something that matters.
The palette is absolute in its simplicity: deep, rich black against a warm, slightly textured off-white ground. This is a palette that works in any interior, with any other colour, in any room — and that derives its power entirely from the contrast between the mark and the ground, the gesture and the silence around it.
Beautiful Ink Script works beautifully in almost any space. In a living room, it is the piece that anchors the room with a quiet, confident authority. In a bedroom, the word itself — enormous, handmade, utterly certain — creates an atmosphere of affirmation and warmth. In a hallway or entrance, it sets a mood for the whole home: bold, intentional, unafraid. In a studio or home office, it is a daily act of commitment to making things that matter. Manasseh Johnson Sr.’s black and white palette pairs with everything — warm wood, bright colour, industrial materials, soft linen — and needs nothing from its surroundings but a wall.
Each print is produced on premium matte paper, which captures the full depth and texture of Manasseh Johnson Sr.’s ink marks. The black is rich and deep, the drips and splashes are rendered with the presence they have in the original, and the warm off-white ground gives the composition a subtle warmth that lifts it above a simple graphic print. The non-reflective finish gives the work the quality of an original — a mark made by a hand, preserved for a wall.
Beautiful Ink Script is available in six sizes: A4, 30x40, 40x50, 50x70, 70x100 and 100x140 cm. In smaller formats, the gestural letterforms have an intimate, almost manuscript quality that rewards close attention. In larger sizes, the word fills the wall with the authority of a statement that has no interest in being quiet or modest.
For framing, we recommend a slim black frame for a graphic, gallery-quality finish that echoes the ink and gives the work a clean, contemporary edge. A natural wood frame in oak or walnut also works beautifully, adding warmth and organic contrast to the bold ink marks and complementing the off-white ground.
Beautiful Ink Script by Manasseh Johnson Sr. is a work about the act of naming — of taking a word and making it physical, making it present, making it impossible to ignore. It is art that means what it says, with every drop of ink.
Tips for hanging your poster
Tips for hanging your poster
How to hang your poster – simple and stylish tips
Getting a poster to hang perfectly is all about the small details. Start by choosing the right height — as a general rule, the center of the poster should sit around 145–155 cm (57–61 inches) from the floor, placing it naturally at eye level. Pick a frame that complements both the artwork and the room, and take a moment to measure so everything hangs straight.
Consider the lighting too: natural light makes colours appear vibrant, but avoid direct sunlight to keep the print looking beautiful for years. If you're hanging multiple posters together, begin from the center and keep the spacing consistent for a clean, balanced look.
It's the little adjustments that make all the difference — creating a refined and well-composed result.
Hang your poster with no measuring stress
Use painter's tape for a quick and perfectly straight result:
- Hold your frame against the wall where you want it.
- Place a strip of painter's tape along the top edge of the frame.
- Mark exactly where the nail or screw should go.
- Remove the tape and stick it onto the wall — perfectly level.
- Hammer the nail into the marked spot.
- Remove the tape and hang your poster.
A simple method for a clean, perfectly aligned poster — every time.
