vibrant-cubist-face
Vibrant Cubist Face

A face has never been just one thing — and no artist understood that better than the Cubists, who spent a century trying to show all sides of it at once. Vibrant Cubist Face by Manasseh Johnson Sr. takes that tradition and charges it with a chromatic energy and a graphic confidence that make it feel entirely and urgently of the present moment.

A face — assembled from interlocking geometric planes of vivid flat colour — occupies the centre of a clean off-white ground with the authority of a shape that knows exactly what it is. The planes are outlined in bold black and filled with saturated, primary and secondary colour: deep red, bright teal, rich purple, vivid orange, warm yellow, and soft pink, each one a distinct field of colour that simultaneously forms part of a nose, a cheek, a brow, a chin. Two photorealistic eyes are placed within and across these geometric fields with Manasseh Johnson Sr.’s characteristic precision — the left eye looks outward from an orange and brown ground, its lashes long and dark; the right eye peers from the teal and purple upper section with a slightly different angle, giving the face the Cubist quality of being seen from two directions at once. Below, a pair of full, photorealistic lips — vivid red, glossy, slightly parted to reveal a glimpse of white teeth — anchor the composition with a sensuality and a physical presence that is completely at odds with, and completely perfect beside, the graphic abstraction above. The whole composition floats against the pale background with the contained, self-sufficient energy of a mask, a glyph, a sign.

Manasseh Johnson Sr. works with a deep knowledge of art history and a completely contemporary visual intelligence, and Vibrant Cubist Face is one of the clearest expressions of that combination. The photorealistic eyes and lips are painted with the same technical mastery as his figurative portraits, while the geometric colour fields are handled with the flat, graphic confidence of a designer who understands colour as structure. The result is a work that is at once playful and serious, accessible and demanding — a face that makes you look, and then look again.

The colour palette is the most joyfully saturated in the Manasseh Johnson Sr. collection. Red, teal, purple, orange, yellow, and pink — all primary and secondary colours at full intensity, contained and organised by bold black outlines — create a composition of pure chromatic celebration. Against the clean off-white background, these colours sing with the clarity of stained glass and the graphic punch of a pop art masterwork.

Vibrant Cubist Face works beautifully in any interior that welcomes bold colour and visual wit. In a living room, it is the piece that immediately defines the energy of the space — joyful, confident, culturally engaged. In a child’s bedroom or playroom, it brings a vivid, art-historical intelligence that grows with the viewer. In a studio or home office, it is a daily charge of creative energy. In a hallway or entrance, it sets a mood of warmth and wit that colours the entire home. Manasseh Johnson Sr.’s full-spectrum palette pairs with virtually any colour interior — the composition is bold enough to hold its own against pattern, colour, and complex decor.

Each print is produced on premium matte paper, which captures the full chromatic intensity of Manasseh Johnson Sr.’s colour fields. The reds are deep and vivid, the teals are bright and clean, the photorealistic eyes are rendered with their full expressiveness, and the lips are glossy and immediate. The non-reflective finish gives the print a quality that is genuinely close to the original — vivid without glare, present without shouting.

Vibrant Cubist Face is available in six sizes: A4, 30x40, 40x50, 50x70, 70x100 and 100x140 cm. In smaller formats, the contained graphic energy of the composition makes it a powerful and joyful addition to any gallery wall. In larger sizes, the colour fields expand to fill the wall with extraordinary chromatic presence, and the photorealistic eyes and lips achieve a scale that is genuinely striking.

For framing, we recommend a slim black frame to echo the bold black outlines of the geometric planes and give the print a clean, gallery-quality finish that lets the colour do all the talking. A slim white or off-white frame also works beautifully, extending the pale background and allowing the composition to float with graphic clarity.

Vibrant Cubist Face by Manasseh Johnson Sr. is a face that contains everything — every angle, every colour, every way of seeing — assembled into a single, joyful, completely confident image. It is art that makes a room feel like a place where everything is possible.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0814/5138/5179/files/Vibrant_Cubist_Face_Manasseh_Johnson_Sr..jpg?v=1789459441
